As professionals, real estate consultants coordinate, promote, negotiate, consult, and uate the biggest financial transaction in most people's itinerary. HAR is a multi listing service for Realtors to be able to search for porperties that other Realtors have a listing agreement for. A homeowner will be able to have their property listed there when they sign a listing agreement with a Realtor.
If you are trying to sell your property without a Realtor you can see one disadvantage right there. With HAR MLS as one of the best MLS in the world why would you not want your property there for the world to see.

No...Since it's the Houston Association of Realtors site our professional dues pay to maintain the site. HAR.com has a very consumer friendly site but it's main purpose is MLS which is used by Realtors to exchange information. One of the reasons that HAR.com is a more reliable source of information than something like Craigs List for example, is because Realtors are held accountable for knowing the rules and entering the most acurate information avilable to them. Even licensed real estate brokers can't list on HAR.com unless they join the Houston Association of Realtors and agree to maintain a higher ethical standard.
