Short answer is No. I do have a small fee service to help you place your property on MLS. Call 832-776-9582 or email me at Wale@Networthbuilders.com. Only Realtors are allowed to place a Property on HAR.com because of the level of trainings and fiduciary duties involved when placing a property on MLS for sale.

This is a very common question asked by homeowners who wish to sell their home on their own. The short answer... only a Broker, Realtor or Real Estate Agent can list a house for sale on HAR (the local MLS System). Have you heard of Limited Listing Services? I specialize in this service. I can help with a fee based option allowing a For Sale By Owner to work with me in listing their home on HAR. You may find my detailed contact information on my website www.yourHOUSEpitalityrealtor.com.

Please allow me a tongue-in-chick... If it wasn't for those little supra keys, and our world-class MLS... Now, seriously: Home selling is not only about bedrooms and baths. As professionals, real estate consultants coordinate, promote, negotiate, consult, and uate the biggest financial transaction in most people's itinerary. My brother is a physician, and he would not take his own appendix. Why would someone want to perform their own financial surgery?

From the question, I gather that the last Realtor made the transaction look like a cake walk!

You must be a licensed member of HAR, a Realtor, in order to list a property on the HAR MLS.

HAR is a multi listing service for Realtors to be able to search for porperties that other Realtors have a listing agreement for. A homeowner will be able to have their property listed there when they sign a listing agreement with a Realtor.
If you are trying to sell your property without a Realtor you can see one disadvantage right there. With HAR MLS as one of the best MLS in the world why would you not want your property there for the world to see.
If you knew that your house would sell quicker and for more money if you listed with a Realtor, would you do it?
It is most often thought that saving the commission is worth the hassel of trying to sell it yourself, you have to determine what is more important to you. Saving the commission or opening your house up to potential buyer or potential threat to yourself and your belongings. Also did you know that the buyer may very well take as much as 6-7% off the price before even starting the negotiations just because you don't have a Realtor involved. I haven't even mentioned the legal fees of writing a valid contract...think about it...will you save anything?

Houston's own HAR.com is the "jewel-in-the-crown" of MLS's. It is award winning and state-of-the-art, other MLS's come to Houston to study ours -- its that good -- and its also public-facing (not all MLS's allow the public access to the data like Houston does). Like any "software" there is a learning curve .. how long did it take you to learn "Word" or "Xcel" or any other program? Don't you want someone who KNOWS how to utilize the system to the fullest working for you? You do. And that person is a Houston Agent who also has wealth of knowledge, experience and resources and is able to apply all that to list, market and sell your home. You don't want to bypass HAR.com (Houston's MLS) and you DO want an experienced agent at the helm ... for optimum MLS utilization, as well as the wealth of knowledge and experience they bring to the table ... accept no substitutions.

You are free to post on sites like Zillow and ForSaleByOwner, but HAR is for members only who are licensed. It's a great site, and actually one of the best is all of the US. Continually ranked as one of the best MLS systems out there. It would be great for you to contact a Realtor for more help.

To list your house on HAR.com, One must use a licensed Realtor! Statistics prove, that by using a licensed Realtor, the homeowner can actually gain a larger sales price, more than the commission that would be paid.

The Houston Association of Realtors is a professional organization of licensed real estate agents who subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics. Our Multiple Listing Service is our means of offering cooperation and compensation to each other. In addition to our Code of Ethics, membership to the Multiple Listing Service also carries with it the responsibility to abide by a strict and lengthy of MLS Rules. There are severe penalties for violating our Code of Ethics and/or our MLS Rules!

It is in your best interest to work with a professional who is a Realtor member of the Houston Association of Realtors.

No...Since it's the Houston Association of Realtors site our professional dues pay to maintain the site. HAR.com has a very consumer friendly site but it's main purpose is MLS which is used by Realtors to exchange information. One of the reasons that HAR.com is a more reliable source of information than something like Craigs List for example, is because Realtors are held accountable for knowing the rules and entering the most acurate information avilable to them. Even licensed real estate brokers can't list on HAR.com unless they join the Houston Association of Realtors and agree to maintain a higher ethical standard. One of the many benefits of using a Realtor is your property listed on HAR.com.
