No you have to be a member and pay the fees for the association.

You need a Realtor to place your home on HAR.

So many great answers and I have to agree with them. You will be much better off hiring a Realtor to help you. Interview several and choose wisely.

I am sure you can sell your own home, its just like saying I can represent myself at the court and I don't need an attorney. I am sure we all have our own reasons for not using the service of the expertise. The main goal is to save on 6% commission, and if I don't use an attorney I can save a lot, but being an attorney would you advice me to represent myself and save some money. If money (commission) is an issue, I am sure we can work something up and have a win win situation. I can negotiate on the commission and will help you sell your home hassle free. I will do some Market Analysis for your home and will guide you in listing it for the best price. The goal is to get you the most money in the shortest period of time. I you like you can contact me at 832-526-6876 or email me at shenni.soofi@gmail.com. I am sure I would be able to answer any questions you may have and will be able to make it a smooth and award winning transaction for you. I am confident and highly professional in my business, not only will I help you sell your home, but I am sure I will be able to get some referral out of this business transaction. Look forward to hear back from you. Once again my contact is 832-526-6876

Hello Lennea,

I hope the advise here has been helpful. At my office, we don't list our own properties/homes. Even if the home is not your personal residence there is a certain amount pride of ownership that gets in the way when determining the list price, emotions get involved when negotiating, and many other circumstances that may occur along the way that are easier to handle through a third party. Please consider consulting with a real estate expert in your area.

Hi Lennes,

I completely agree with Veronica! You definitely want to be represented by a realtor. Your home is one of your biggest investments you want a real estate professional to handle the transaction for you.

Think of it this way..I pride myself on being pretty legal and business savvy. That said, I would never attempt to represent myself in a court of law and I hire a CPA to handle my business and taxes.

Regardless of ones profession, for sale by owner is really not a good idea. I have written up some information to share with the public regarding this very thing. I pulled a lot of data and statistics on for sale by owner properties. If you'd like a copy feel free to shoot me an email.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Hello Lennea,

Only Realtors can list properties on Har.com as well as other sites such as Trulia. You can try listing on Craigslist. Good luck and if things do not work out, please do not hesitate to call. We are here to help.

Even attorneys need to utilize the expertise of a Realtor. Only members of the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) MLS can list properties on HAR's MLS.

I'd be happy to speak with you about your options and offer you some solutions to consider.
