Need help looking for rental

My husband and I currently live in second ward on saltus street. We are needing a better more stable rental. Our current landlord has been trying to illegally evict us since January and has not repaired our pipes after the winter storm. It’s an incredibly messy situation
I’m starting school on May 27 to train to be an emt and will be working in that field by September. Currently, due to the pandemic my husband and I are receiving unemployment for our income, and between the two of us that amounts to $4000 per month. Additionally, we are about to receive a fairly large settlement and would be able and willing to pay a higher deposit or even prepay some or all of the months of the lease term.
I have an eviction that was paid in full and dismissed and another that I’m currently disputing. Credit is between 640-723 depending on bureau.

1. It's disappointing a landlord would treat anyone with such negligence.
2. Have you considered purchasing a home. There are some great options in the greater Houston area and nearly any Realtor here could help assist you two.
3. Check out some programs via google search. I found a Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation that seems like it may hit your targets.
Best of luck and if you need anything let me know.

Hello, I am so sorry that you are going through this. Your credit scores are good, and I have noticed many landlords or requesting check stubs, not sure if unemployment would be considered as income. The evictions are still on your record even if they are old and this gives landlords reason for concern. This may be a reason that some landlords may ask for up to double the deposit or just not approve your application.

What price range home are you looking for? I am not sure if landlords will accept unemployment as income verification
