As said by others on this post you can go to HAR and run a search to see all the active listings or seek the help of a Realtor who will provide a more personalized touch to the search. If you are looking for an apartment you can seek out the help of an apartment locator. I am a locator and our services are no cost to you.
Fill out our online form at www.apartmentlocatoronline.com or contact for more information. Hope you find the perfect home!

Hi Jeanita,

I recommend working with an agent that does property management too as they are used to dealing with the leasing process and negociations.
I happen to own a property management company, feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hi realtor to help you start the application process, figure out which area of the city would like to live in – I would suggest somewhere close to your work. And happy searching! Welcome to Houston!

Hi Jennifer, Your best bet is to find a Realtor in the part of town you want to live in. I cover the South and Southwest parts of Houston as well as Fort Bend and Brazoria counties, for example. Other factors to consider are schools (if applicable), traffic and driving distances to work. Your Realtor will also need patience as you may not yet have all the answers to these questions. I generally help my relocation rental clients by navigating them through the entire process. Kelly Jackson, REMAX Southwest, 281-207-5068.

Har.com has a great list of rentals but what I would do is use the zip code of your friends, family, or job and try to stay within 10 miles of that zip code. Just an FYI midtown, downtown, Montrose, university area, medical center area, heights area for a lot of fun hip crowds, lots of professionals, bars, shops, sports, etc. everything around that is where you can find many families and more of a settled crowd. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call, email, or text 24/7 Eboni Taylor Keller Williams Realty 832-453-7440 emtaylor@kw.com

If you know the general area that you will need to be in close proximity to, find a Realtor in that area. HAR.com of course is a great source of information. You don't necessarily need to find the top producing sales agent in the area but instead find an agent that will have the time to spend to help you find the best rental. Best of luck with your move!

Kimberly right, the best website is HAR.com and it has the most accurate up to date listing data. If your looking for an apartment the market is not as transparent as with rental homes and i would suggest contacting a Realtor who is an expert in that neighborhood. One of the biggest factors most people value in their search is commute time. Houston Association just recently launched the drive time search http://beta.har.com/drivetimesearch. The next biggest factor usually is finding a Houston neighborhood that is safe(http://mycity.houstontx.gov/crime/)and also fits your lifestyle.
