Does having house main door to the side reduce appeal?

I am interested in a house. The location is great and upgrades are OK. The only issue I see is the fact that main-door is on the side of the house, next to garage. So from the curb/street you just see the side wall. This has also caused the backyard to be L shaped. I am still OK with it since it meets my requirements. But from a selling perspective I am concerned if this kind of structure will be off-putting to buyers. All houses I have seen till now have the front-door facing out to the street. I move every few years due to my job so I want the option to be able to sell this house quickly if needed.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Have the main entry door on the side of the house can definitely adversely affect the resale value of a home. Most buyer I have show this type of plan have not liked and wanted to move on to another property.

Not necessarily, anything need to be seen as an architectural detail.

Dhairya, great question, I could see how that could be concerning! The truth is, something like this is completely a case-by-case basis. You never can predict what any prospective buyer may think about something aesthetic in a home. I would tend to try to focus on the major known selling points of a home over the smaller unknowns. Feel free to contact me for further information or assistance, thanks for posting!

Hi Dhairya, having the main door to the side may not appeal to some, however, that is something that would be difficult to change, so it it best to accentuate the positive by having the door freshly painted and appealing when someone does walk up to it. Kelly Jackson REMAX Southwest 281-652-6873

Markets vary, houses vary. if the home is in a good neighborhood and school district you probably will not have a problem selling. the easiest way to get answers is to give the address to a Professional Realtor whom you trust and let them do an analysis on the home you are considering buying.
