I agree with my Colleague from Better Homes and Gardens - Gary Greene. There are thousands of choices! 55+ units for lease come in wide price ranges, with many amenities, social opportunities, etc. and to narrow it down, it is so nice to have the expert help of a Realtor. I am a Senior\'s Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and I work with 55+ folks to Lease or Buy in those dedicated 55+ communities. They are often much quieter and have lower crime stats as well. They are a great choice for a happy 55+ lifestyle and I have too many favorites to name! There are Senior designated communities in several areas of Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston and Montgomery counties. Should you use a realtor when purchasing a house from a builder in a master planned community?

Since you posted this question in Adults 55+, I am going to assume you are in that age bracket too. So one of the most important reasons to definitely use a REALTOR is that it is possible, as with many of my Clients that you are downsizing at that stage of life and have possibly lived in your home for many, many years. SO much has changed in Real Estate, the laws, the HOAs, mortgages, title policies, trusts, etc. etc! You may not remember what is was like if it has been many years since you have bought or sold, but it is very different now and almost completely digital and not a lot of paperwork, which is nice. If you are 55+, you might also want to use a Realtor (like me!) who has the Senior\'s Real Estate Specialist designation and works frequently with folks in that age group. They will be able to share with you the many options for that lifestyle niche. I would not do that at this point. I would review IABS with them thoroughly in person. They may not grasp the role of a Listing Agent vs. the Buyer\'s Agent. I am a former Washington Real Estate Broker, now a Realtor in TX again, and while it is done in other States, there is no true Dual Agency here in Texas. You will not be representing the Buyer. Talk to your designated Broker about going on the Listing Appointment again armed with a powerful Listing presentation, a good CMA with stats about their Neighborhood, how long marketing may take, avg. DOM, staging, professional photos. Show them the value of using you. In other words, WOW them! \nBut be prepared to walk away if they want you to invest lots of hours with no Listing Agreement. I hope they are perfectly sincere and just need to be educated on how representation works.
