John Nichols, 2016 HAR Political Affairs Advisory Group Chair, expressed confidence in the recommended candidates stating, “All of the incumbents at the federal and state levels have been supportive of our Realtor issues. These officeholders have worked with members of HAR on property rights, property tax, and appraisal issues.  For working with us on homeowner and property rights issues and advocacy, they have earned our respect and support to be re-elected to serve another term of office.

HAR members are involved in the political process at all levels, promoting policies and supporting candidates who advocate for property rights and homeownership.  The Association is about putting our commitment to the American dream of property ownership to work in real and tangible ways…from City Hall to the Texas State House to the U.S. Capitol. Houston REALTORS® support political candidates and public policies that uphold private property rights, real property ownership, build strong communities, and create a vibrant business environment. Electing public officials who understand property owners’ concerns and act accordingly is the Association’s top priority.

Early voting for the Tuesday, March 1 Primary Election runs from Tuesday, February 16 through Friday, February 26.
