Canyon High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 80 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 83 in closing performance gaps. It scored 81 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

Canyon Lake High School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Canyon High School has no distinction.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Canyon High School. They make up for 47.43% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (44.15%), African Americans (3.48%), Two or More Races (2.86%), Asians (1.37%) and Native Americans (0.25%).

At Canyon Lake High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 62.38% of student population, followed by Hispanics (32.83%), Two or More Races (2.25%), African Americans (1.31%), Asians (0.56%) and Native Americans (0.38%).

Based on household incomes, the Canyon High School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 32.38% compared to 34.33% at Canyon Lake High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Canyon High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 5.47% of its student population compared to 4.78% at Canyon Lake High School.

In addition, Canyon High School has 5.22% bilingual students, 8.46% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.00% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Canyon Lake High School with 4.69% bilingual students, 9.66% gifted and talented students and 16.04% students in the special education program.
