Growing up with a single parent in SW Houston apartments at 7400 Bissonnet at the age of 9 in 1976, my sister enlisted in the Army, but before she left, she was able to get me involved in Pop Warner football that Fall of ‘76, and to play baseball in the Spring.  My father, struggled with alcohol and in the Spring of ’77, we got evicted and we had to move into a self-storage unit off Westpark.  After a month or so the next available apartment complex was 6009 Bellaire where I received many life lessons that still resonate with me.  At 12, I got a paper route delivering the Chronicle to nearby apartment properties, stayed the course playing sports each season, made my grades, even found faith on my doorstep at these apartments on Bellaire.  It was also a transitioning period where my father quit drinking due to an accident that prevented him from working, and to accommodate this change we moved again to an apartment property at 7245 Hillcroft because they accepted rent subsidies, The Fairmount Apartments – all bills paid, zoned to Bellaire High School and spent 14 years.  Stayed in sports, got to play in college. Stayed in school, got my MBA. Tried 4 different industries over a decade before I found real estate investment brokerage in 2004, specializing in multi-family sales. I got my broker's license in 2012 and started Inner Loop West specializing in small to mid-sized well located older vintage apartment property transactions and have been content ever since. In 2022, I brokered the 160 unit on Hillcroft that I lived in for those critical 14 years, so brokerage has come full circle for me as a proud Houstonian and one of Houston's most knowledgeable multi-family experts.
