About Robert

Robert Bland knew at an early age that a career in real estate was his destiny, and with great intuitiveness he paved a path to the top as a consistent multi-million dollar producer with Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty and now Compass Real Estate Texas.

Robert learned the fundamentals of real estate from his father, a residential developer who worked in Spain, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, and Houston. Although he lived in many cities following his father around, Robert always considered Houston home.

A fluent Spanish-speaker, Robert graduated from St. John's School, attended Tulane University, and graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA. He started his real estate career as a project manager for new construction. In 1979, he received his real estate license and moved to Austin to participate in land development. While there, he earned an MBA from UT.

Robert returned to Houston and joined Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty, in 1990. Within one year, he became a member of the Circle of Excellence, the company's elite group of top producers. He has qualified for the Circle every year since, joined the Hall of Fame in 1996, and has been among the company's top producers ever since. He also figures prominently in the Houston Business Journal's Top 25 Residential Realtors list every year.

Robert Bland demonstrates the level of excellence that Compass Real Estate exemplifies in the real estate community. He attributes his success to personal referrals from former clients and friends, proof of the old adage "If you want something done well, ask a busy person." One of his important strengths, Bland says, is his ability as a facilitator. He believes in keeping everyone in a real estate transaction "on the same page," and stresses that a successful closing is one where all parties feel they've won. Robert sells all areas of Houston and has particular expertise in the River Oaks area, the Museum District, Tanglewood, and close-in Memorial.

Robert is married and has two children. He serves on the advisory board of the Salvation Army and is the chairman of the Army’s real estate committee. In his spare time, Robert enjoys travel, skiing, surfing, and playing tennis.
