My recommendation is working with a realtor who can start a search for the budget indicated. Realtors can also help with advise on movers/storage/ etc. There are other options like apart-hotels, corporate apartments, etc that are very reasonable. Is there any way to check records to see if a house has flooded previously? Other than the SD

Aask your insurance agent. Your insurance agent can run a Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Evaluation (CLUE) report on the past claims on the property. This will be the most concrete way of determining whether or not the home has flooded in the past. This reports past flood claims filed by the owner, but NOT flood damage at the property when no claim was filed. If the owner did not have a flood policy at the time of the previous damage, it is unlikely they filed a claim. \n\nOther resources can be inspectors who can determine if there is water damage on the property, the sellers must disclose it on the SD.
