How effective is email and direct mail marketing?

Roxane, great question! I think it depends on three major things: What your target market is, does your marketing grab attention, and are you providing value or just begging? I have not personally dove off into the Direct mail marketing as of yet, but speaking to email marketing, it has not been a big success for me thus far. I believe the strongest reason for that is, you have to go where the people are at, and on the internet, they are on social media. Being a millennial, and having a core database full of other millennial, Facebook has been the HUGEST avenue for me. Instead of going the traditional route of \"just asking\" for business, I constantly provide value and it works constantly. We live in a world and an economy where you have to give (potentially multiple times) to receive. So figure out what your ideal client needs from you, offer it again and again while making sure they know what you do for a living, and the referrals will pour in! Now with mailing/emailing/social media advertisement as far as just a flyer type thing, you have one shot to get it right and grab attention. The best way I have found is by keeping it simpler than simple with bold, contrasting colors (and of course offering something of value). I may put bright yellow letters in large, bold font on a black background to make it really pop out to someone. Now, while I know that will capture most people\'s attention, I also know I only have a split second to keep that attention so the content needs to be extraordinary and short. Things to offer: Free market analysis, free buyer consultation, free home valuation, rebates on listings, and anything else you can think of that makes people feel like they are getting something that helps them and need to reach out to you.
