I have a few pocession charges and I'm on housing and is in need of an apartment by the end of the month I'm not a trouble maker so won't be a problem please help me with this matter
Hey Latasha, Great Question! It depends on the Landlord and the type of criminal offense. There are some Landlords who will work with a criminal record. However, I do work rentals quite often and what I can say is just be genuine about your situation and you will likely run into a nice landlord. I hope this helps, feel free to reach out at 832-696-8100.
Latasha! I believe with my whole soul, that anything is possible, and this situation is too! Your first step is to seek only properties with landlords who accept housing vouchers. Once you have narrowed down that list, you can figure out which of those are willing to at least hear you out on your prior charge. I have found over the years that the more upfront, open, and honest a potential tenant is about their situation, the better their chances! It is very helpful to have a clean and clear, verifiable, rental history, as well as a solid credit history, and verifiable income that will cover at least three times the amount of the monthly rent of a given property. This wont be the easiest thing in the world, but if you stick to it, I believe you can do it!
Hi Latasha! It depends on what any person's criminal history actually is. But you do have somethings that can be of help. There's a toolkit that can a great resource to you. To get this toolkit, copy/paste this into your browser: https://www.thehousingcenter.org/resources/criminal-history/#::text=Fair20Housing20for20People20with20a20Criminal20Record3A20A20Digital,by20the20criminal20legal20system.
Its going to be hard to find a place because we have a huge waiting list for most apartments. I would google section 8 apartments and start making some phone calls. Hang in there!
There are landlords that will accept a tenant with a criminal record and section 8. The selections may be slim, however it is possible. If you do not have a positive rental history that will create an issue.
