My family have relocated to Texas for a job opportunity and we are looking for a real estate company or a realtor who excepts evictions for a rental home. We are currently looking for a three bedroom home in a good area, and we are willing to pay double the deposit if needed. Our sense of urgency is within the next three weeks if anyone can assist please answer. Thank you.

Congratulations on your new job opportunity and welcome to Texas! I'm sorry to hear that you have an eviction on your record. Unfortunately, this will make it more difficult to find a home, but there are still some options available. First, I would suggest that you reach out to a few different real estate companies and realtors to see if they accept working with families with evictions. It's possible that you may be able to find someone willing to work with you, especially if the eviction is 7 years out. Second, you might want to consider looking for private rentals. By going through a private landlord, you may be able to find a rental home in a good area and negotiate a double deposit if needed. Finally, it's important to remember that it may take some time to find a rental home that meets your needs. With that in mind, you may want to look into short-term housing options in the meantime. This could help you to secure a place to stay while you keep searching for a longer-term solution.

Hi Airricka, Sorry to hear about your troubles with locating a home because of rental history. Unfortunately, it won't be up to a realtor to accept a tenant with an eviction or not; rather it will be up to the property owner and/or landlord. I know that isn't the most helpful, but here's some things that might be: 1. In large part, you will find that securing an apartment versus a house will be much easier and honestly, more feasible. This is especially important to consider because of the time frame you have to work with. 2. Homes that you see listed on sites, like har.com are generally listed by a broker/agent, who is assisting their landlord client to find the most WELL qualified tenant, and you will definitely be extremely hard pressed to find someone to accept a less than perfect rental history. Because of this, it may be worth it to drive around and look for "for rent by owner" signs and see if they are more willing to work with you. 3. Probably the most important thing here is: make very sure that you are 100% honest with each potential landlord upfront and tell them what you are willing to do to make them more comfortable with you as a tenant. They will find out anyway, so this will save you hundreds of dollars of wasted application fees, AND if a landlord respects the honesty, maybe they'll give you a shot! Best of luck to y'all, I'm sure all will work out!

If you have been evicted in the past, this may make it more difficult to find a realtor who is willing to work with you, but it is not impossible. You may look for realtors who specialize in helping clients with challenging credit or rental histories. Besides, you need to be honest about your rental/credit history.
