Need to be registered as vendor first before I can get referral fee from Apartment, is this normal?

I recently put my client into ARLO WESTCHASE, owned or managed by GREYSTAR. I sent them the referral invoice and company\'s W9, however, the leasing officer told me that my brokerage needed to be register as their vendor, so they can cut a check. They used third party website called https://www.compliancedepot.com/  after I\'m done with the registration, they told me I need to pay $100 ish annually, I just wonder anyone here have any experience dealing with these companys. I need to pay first in order to get  referral fee? It doesn\'t sound nice.

Strange situation! I\'ve not run into that before. Mainly because I approach apartments similar to the way I approach builders. I first go to the apartment complex without my clients to inquire about what they have available and how I would get paid if I brought my client to them. Amli, Camden, and Ogden Hughs managed complexes all have had me pre-register my clients with them, and I then schedule an appointment time to come back later with my client to tour the property. The only condition that I ran into where I  wouldn\'t get paid was for lease terms that are less than 12 months. I haven\'t shown a Greystar property. Thanks for the heads up about them.
