A unique property at 6th Avenue/11th Street area

I have a referral partner in that area. What's the need so I can hopefully make a connection?

I recently discovered that my home’s appraisal roll in the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) has incorrect details about my property. Specifically, the roll lists a half bathroom and a wood deck that don’t exist. I filed a Real Property Correction Request/Motion, marking the error type as “Clerical, Mathematical, Computer, Transcription Error.” However, an HCAD representative told me that these aren’t considered clerical errors but didn’t clarify what type of error would apply. The representative also mentioned that once the appraisal roll is certified each year, changes can’t be made, which seems counterintuitive. Actually, the Correction Request form allows you to select which years you want to correct, up to five years back. QUESTION: Please, can someone help me figure out the correct type of error to mark on the form if I refile? I wonder if I should choose number 4 or number 7 from the options provided. Here are the options they list: 1 Clerical, Mathematical, Computer, Transcription Error. 2 Multiple appraisals with account(s) ___. 3 Property not located at address shown on roll. 4 Error in ownership/address/property description. 5 Property over-appraised by more than 1/3. 6 Property over-appraised by more than 1/4. 7 Property does not exist. 8 Limitation on increased value of residential homestead not applied. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would expect that you would argue these points in the next protest opportunity you have. These are improvements that could potentially add to value. The county appraisal district should be informed as to reasons why your value isn't as high as they say it is. Include this a party of your argument. You will also have an opportunity to ask someone else how to correct before the appraisal is approved/binding for the year.
