I\'m a newly licensed agent still trying to decide where to go next and could use some advice from the pros. I was going to sign on with KW full time but have decided to keep my day job with a guaranteed pay check for now. I am going to attempt to get started part time and was wondering if anyone had any advice on brokerages that are good for part timers other than KW? I was thinking maybe getting started out doing open houses and phone / property time to hopefully bring in some clients but not sure if that\'s realistic. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jason!\n\nCongrats on beginning your journey into real estate! I had a similar situation over two years ago when I switched from full time in insurance sales, then started part time as a Realtor. I quickly found that part time was not going to work for me, as I wasn\'t able to fully serve my clients with their real estate needs. I would highly encourage you to try some open houses though before making that full time switch, and find a great mentor! I know at certain firms, they may require you to have someone train you, and I would make sure you feel that you are getting the training you need! Divorced. Put house on market. Ex-wife decides to refinance in her name. Take house off market. 30+ phone calls a day from realtors wanting to know WHY the house was taken off the market. I’ve even had realtors show up in person. Can there be a note put on the listing, not to contact?!

Hi Scott! I would highly encourage you to register on the Do Not Call list if you have not already done so (including your cell number). As others have said, it is hard to avoid, but your agent should be able to put remarks in the Agent Only section asking agents to not contact you. I would also agree with the advice of other agents to not answer calls from unknown numbers.

I have also found a particular property that I think would suit however it’s got hunting trophies all over it and my wife and daughters would find them highly offensive and would definitely refuse to view any house like that. Is it possible that we could ask the seller to remove prior to viewing as it’s a really strong contender but it’s impossible with the taxidermy.

Hello Paul! \n\nIt can be very difficult to find an exact floor plan of a particular house you may be interested in. Although it is uncommon, a listing may also include a virtual home tour. Many agents are now including these tours along with photos of the home because it can allow you to get a better feel for the layout of the house. \n\nMy job as a Realtor is to help make the home buying process as simple and easy as I can for my clients! If you have a list of haves that you are curious as to whether they have the specific features you need, a good agent could call on the listing agent to find that info for you. This may cut down on time spent searching for details or potentially seeing homes that never fit your criteria in the first place!\n\nAs for the home with the animal heads mounted, I would certainly have the Realtor who is representing you contact the listing agent to make your concerns known. Matt helped my wife and I buy our first home. Many people say buying a house a house is stressful but working with Matt made the process stress free. Through the entire process he was very patient, and showed us a good number of properties over a couple of weeks (~10+ over three weeks). He listened to our likes and dislikes of all the houses and helped find a home that matched our budget, our tastes and our desired location. When it came time to make offers he helped us understand what a good initial offer would be but let us make the decision and then guided us through the counteroffer negotiations. Great realtor to work with and would definitely choose him again the next time we are looking!
