What is considered the standard time frame for a realtor to expect to get paid on a lease? I was always under the impression that it was pretty much due at the time of lease signing, and once the deposit and first month's rent has been paid. But what is the actual rule on this?

Hey Kristi, Great Question. It will usually depend on whether it is a single-family or an apartment; additionally, if there are landlords or a management company. For single-family rentals like townhouses, duplexes, free-standing, patio homes, etc., with a single or coupled owner, I would get paid out the first day the lease starts. For apartments, its 50/50 on whether you will be paid out on the day of the move in and the same goes for management companies. Sometimes they ask for 30 or even 60 to 90 days after the tenant has moved in for you to get paid out which stinks.
