Hector Lopez

Hector Lopez, Jr was born and raised in Robstown, TX., and graduated from Robstown High School in 1997. After graduation, he moved to San Antonio and enrolled at San Antonio Mortuary College where he studied Funeral Directing and embalming. In 1998, while still attending college, Mr. Lopez began working as a student with Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries in San Antonio. After graduation, he continued his career with Mission Park as a Mortuary Apprentice and remained with the company as a Mortician until 2014. While in San Antonio, he was a member of Rho Sigma Gamma, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the San Antonio South Side Chamber. In 2014 Hector returned to Robstown to take over his family’s business. He owned and operated one of the oldest businesses in Robstown with over 70 years of service, Lopez Handy Stop. The Lopez family owned 10 locations throughout San Diego, TX., and Robstown, TX.,. His family went into business in 1951 and Hector was the 3rd generation owner. He not only serves his community as a Board Trustee with the Robstown Independent School District, he also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Robstown Housing Authority. During his time back in Robstown he served as a board member for the Robstown Education Foundation, Chairman for the Robstown Civil Service Department, 2016 Coordinator for the Robstown Cottenfest Pageant, and committee member for the Robstown Cottenfest. He was the Chairman of the 1st annual Robstown Winter Wonderland Christmas Extravaganza. He has recently returned back to San Antonio and is looking forward to his new career in Real Estate. Hector lives by this famous quote by Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
