Seychelles International Airport is the main gateway to the country and is served by a number of international airlines. There are also domestic flights and helicopter services for travel between islands.
Car Rentals
Cars can be rented on the main islands of Mahe and Praslin. However, driving is on the left-hand side of the road. International Driving Permits are accepted.
Taxis
Taxis are available on Mahe and Praslin and can be recognized by their yellow colour. It's advisable to agree on the fare before starting the journey.
Buses
Public buses operate on the main islands of Mahe and Praslin. They are inexpensive but may be crowded. Timetables can be irregular, particularly on weekends.
Ferries
Regular ferry services operate between Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue. Tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal or online in advance.
Bicycles
On smaller islands like La Digue, bicycles are a popular mode of transport and can be hired locally.
Walking
In the smaller islands, walking is often the easiest way to get around. However, it's advisable to have a map or GPS to avoid getting lost.
Boat charters
For visiting outlying islands, boat charters are available. These can be arranged through hotels or local operators.
Driving in Seychelles
Roads in Seychelles are generally narrow with steep drops and sharp bends. Extra caution should be taken when driving.
Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory in Seychelles, but it is appreciated for good service. Remember, it is always a good idea to have travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, as medical services are limited on the smaller islands.
