Bus

Monaco has a very efficient and reliable bus service, operated by the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM). There are six bus routes that cover all the main attractions and landmarks.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available but can be quite expensive. It's worth noting that taxis cannot be hailed on the street in Monaco, they must be called from a taxi stand or booked in advance.

Car

Driving in Monaco can be challenging due to its hilly terrain and narrow roads. Parking can also be difficult to find and expensive.

Train

Although Monaco doesn't have its own train service, it does have a railway station (Gare de Monaco) which connects it to the French rail network. This is a good option for day trips to nearby French towns and cities.

Walking

Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, so it's easy to get around on foot. However, the steep hills can make walking strenuous.

Bicycles and E-scooters

These are available for rent and are a popular way to get around, especially in the summer months.

Boat

There are regular boat services between Monaco and other points along the French Riviera.

Helicopter

A seven-minute helicopter transfer is available from Nice Airport to Monaco. This is the quickest and most glamorous way to arrive, but also the most expensive.

Public Elevators

There are public elevators and escalators throughout the city to help pedestrians deal with the steep slopes of the city. These are free and a big help to get from one level to another.

Carpooling

The Monaco government encourages carpooling and provides a free online service to connect drivers and passengers.

Car Hire

There are several car hire companies in Monaco but remember to book in advance during peak tourist season. Remember to check the current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions if you are planning to travel.
