Air Travel

Micronesia is accessible by air, with the Federated States of Micronesia's national airline, United Airlines, providing regular flights to the country from various international destinations. There are also several smaller airports throughout the islands.

Sea Travel

Travel between the islands is often done by boat. You can charter boats for private travel or use the regular passenger/cargo ships that provide services between the islands.

Car Rental

Cars can be rented in the larger cities and towns, however, it's important to note that not all islands in Micronesia have road networks. On smaller islands, walking might be the only mode of transport.

Taxis

Taxis are available in the larger towns. It's advisable to negotiate the fare before starting your journey as most taxis do not have meters.

Public Buses

In larger towns, there are public buses that run on specific routes. However, these may not necessarily run on a fixed schedule.

Driving

If you plan to drive, it's worth noting that traffic moves on the right side of the road in Micronesia. An international driving permit is recommended.

Health check

Given that Micronesia is a tropical country, it’s recommended to check with your doctor if you require any vaccines or if you need to take any other health precautions.

Visa

Depending on your nationality, a visa may be required to enter Micronesia. It's advisable to check with your local Micronesian consulate or embassy for the most current visa information.

Inter-Island Travel

Small planes and boats operate between the islands. It's important to book these in advance as they can fill up quickly, particularly during peak travel seasons.

Travel Insurance

It's recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, as the medical facilities in Micronesia are limited. Remember, travel information can change rapidly so always check for the latest advice and information before you travel.
