Left-Hand Driving

In Bermuda, people drive on the left side of the road. If you're from a country where driving is on the right, be careful while crossing the streets or driving.

No Car Rentals

Visitors are not allowed to rent cars in Bermuda. The island strictly limits cars to one per household. However, you can rent scooters, bikes, or use public transportation.

Scooter/Moped Rentals

Scooter rentals are a popular mode of transportation for visitors. You can rent them on a daily or weekly basis. However, be aware that Bermuda's roads can be narrow, winding, and hilly, so you should be confident in your ability to handle a scooter.

Buses and Ferries

Bermuda has an excellent public transportation system. The buses cover most of the island and the ferries can take you to different parts of the island quickly and offer beautiful views.

Taxi Services

Taxis are readily available in Bermuda and drivers often serve as impromptu tour guides. Rates are government-controlled and are based on the distance traveled.

Cycling

Bermuda has a number of beautiful cycling routes, particularly the Bermuda Railway Trail. You can rent bicycles at various locations around the island.

Walking

Bermuda is a small island, so many attractions are within walking distance of each other, especially in the town of St. George and the City of Hamilton. However, be aware that the island's roads often lack sidewalks and can be quite narrow.

Hitchhiking

It is common for locals to hitch a ride, but it's generally not recommended for tourists due to safety reasons.

Tickets and Passes

If you plan on using public transportation frequently, consider getting a transportation pass, which offers unlimited use of buses and ferries for a set period.

Airport Transfers

The L.F. Wade International Airport is well served by taxis. Many hotels also offer airport pick-up and drop-off services. There are no public buses to and from the airport for visitors with luggage. Remember to plan your travel in advance, especially when traveling to and from the airport or going to less populated parts of the island.
