Car Rental

Renting a car in Aruba is a convenient way to explore the island. There are several car rental companies at the airport and around the island. Driving is on the right-hand side and international driving licenses are accepted.

Public Transportation

Aruba has a reliable public transportation system with buses running between major towns and tourist areas. The central bus station is located in downtown Oranjestad.

Taxis

Taxis are widely available in Aruba and are a popular mode of transportation for visitors. They are usually found at the airport, hotels and tourist hotspots. Taxis do not use meters, instead, they have fixed prices to different destinations which should be confirmed before the ride.

Bike and Scooter Rental

For short distances, you can rent bikes or scooters. However, be aware that traffic can be heavy, especially in Oranjestad.

Airport Transfers

The Queen Beatrix International Airport is located near Oranjestad. Many hotels offer airport shuttle services, otherwise, taxis and car rentals are available.

Ferry

There's a ferry service that runs from Oranjestad to De Palm Island.

Road Conditions

The main roads in Aruba are in good condition, but smaller roads, especially in the countryside, can be rough.

Driving Rules

Seat belts are mandatory and you're not allowed to use a mobile phone while driving unless it's a hands-free device. The legal alcohol limit is 0.05%.

Parking

There is plenty of parking available in Oranjestad and at most tourist destinations. Some parking lots may charge a small fee. Remember, it's always a good idea to have a map or GPS on hand, especially if you're driving.
