Gary Carter

I am a native Texan, raised in Houston, later residing in Austin, Plano and Murphy. I have lived in the Plano and Murphy area for over 30 years. A proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Geological Sciences, I also participated in track and cross country as a Longhorn. While attending the University of Houston graduate school, I began working in the oil and gas exploration industry, a practice that persists to this day. I have discovered several oil and gas fields over the years and remain involved in petroleum exploration operations. For the last 20 years, I've been involved in education, most recently helping adolescents deal with a variety of behaviors of concern. I believe in being active in the community, serving two terms on Murphy City Council in the late 1980's and early 1990's, including a stint as Mayor Pro Tem. Subsequent to that I served on the Murphy Park Board as chairman, providing direction to the city's future park system, which is well developed today. I was involved in Boy Scouts as a leader for several years including six years as Scoutmaster of a Plano Troop, among other positions. Most importantly, I am a proud father of two grown sons and grandfather of three grand daughters. I am the third generation of my family being involved with real estate and my sister is also a Realtor in Houston.
