Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Westbury High School's two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and 25% closing performance gaps. Sharpstown High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Sharpstown High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 79.66% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.66%), Asians (2.54%), Whites or Caucasians (1.68%), Native Americans (0.35%) and Two or More Races (0.12%).
At Westbury High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 65.03% of student population, followed by African Americans (31.17%), Whites or Caucasians (1.88%), Asians (1.15%), Two or More Races (0.68%) and Native Americans (0.04%).
Based on household incomes, the Sharpstown High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 83.42% compared to 92.24% at Westbury High School.
