When we compared Hendrick Middle School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, with Schimelpfenig Middle School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Hendrick Middle School’s regular student population is 642 with a 14 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Schimelpfenig Middle School is 800 students and a 14.9 students/teacher ratio.
Hendrick Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 79 in student achievement, 81 in school progress and 77 in closing performance gaps. It scored 80 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

Schimelpfenig Middle School's seven out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Hendrick Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Hendrick Middle School. They make up for 38.32% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.61%), Hispanics (19.63%), Asians (11.21%), Two or More Races (5.92%) and Native Americans (0.31%).
The student population at Schimelpfenig Middle School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 44.75%, followed by Asians (29.75%), Hispanics (13.38%), African Americans (7.13%) and Two or More Races (5.00%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Hendrick Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 34.58% compared to 19.25% at Schimelpfenig Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hendrick Middle School has 56 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 8.72% of student population. Schimelpfenig Middle School has slightly more ELLs at 69 or about 8.63% of student population.
In addition, Hendrick Middle School has 8.57% bilingual students, 14.95% are in the gifted and talented program, while 15.73% are in the special education program.
