When we compared Haltom Middle School, which is a part of BIRDVILLE ISD, with River Trails Elementary School, which is a part of HURST-EULESS-BEDFORD ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.

Haltom Middle School’s regular student population is 909 with a 16 students/teacher ratio. The student population at River Trails Elementary School is 672 students and a 18.2 students/teacher ratio.

Performance Indicators

Haltom Middle School earned a State accountability rating of D (60-69) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 67 in student achievement, 75 in school progress and 67 in closing performance gaps. It scored 69 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, River Trails Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 88 in student achievement, 87 in school progress, 89 in closing performance gaps and 88 overall in post-secondary readiness.

The student population at River Trails Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 44.35%, followed by Hispanics (19.94%), African Americans (17.11%), Asians (11.61%) and Two or More Races (5.95%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
