Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Elliott Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, with Carroll Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Elliott Elementary School has a regular student population of 648 with a 14.7 students/teacher ratio while Carroll Elementary School has 617 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.7 students/teacher ratio.
Elliott Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 75 in student achievement, 92 in school progress and 76 in closing performance gaps. On the other hand, Carroll Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 80 in student achievement, 91 in school progress, 94 in closing performance gaps and 92 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Elliott Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Carroll Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Elliott Elementary School. They make up for 29.63% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.62%), Asians (23.46%), Hispanics (13.12%), Two or More Races (7.41%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
At Carroll Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 60.29% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (24.47%), Asians (9.08%), Two or More Races (3.08%), African Americans (2.43%) and Native Americans (0.65%).
Based on household incomes, the Elliott Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 37.19% compared to 37.60% at Carroll Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Elliott Elementary School has 75 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 11.57% of student population. Carroll Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 361 or about 58.51% of student population.
In addition, Elliott Elementary School has 10.65% bilingual students, 2.62% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.26% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Carroll Elementary School with 58.67% bilingual students, 6.32% gifted and talented students and 8.91% students in the special education program.
