Vandegrift High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 84 in school progress and 93 in closing performance gaps. It scored 94 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Vista Ridge High School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 81 in school progress, 93 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Vandegrift High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Vista Ridge High School’s only distinction designation is in Post-Secondary.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Vandegrift High School. They make up for 56.61% of student population, followed by Hispanics (17.26%), Asians (15.41%), Two or More Races (6.08%), African Americans (4.40%) and Native Americans (0.08%).

The student population at Vista Ridge High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 42.74%, followed by Hispanics (26.43%), Asians (21.23%), Two or More Races (5.53%), African Americans (3.55%) and Native Americans (0.28%).

Based on household incomes, the Vandegrift High School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 8.05% compared to 10.33% at Vista Ridge High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Vandegrift High School has 66 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.71% of student population. Vista Ridge High School has significantly more ELLs at 212 or about 8.56% of student population.

Vandegrift High School’s bilingual students comprise 2.67%, gifted and talented students, 34.47%, while 8.50% are in the special education program. Vista Ridge High School bilingual students comprise 8.47%, gifted and talented students, 24.25%, and 11.95% are in the special education program.
