Vandegrift High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 84 in school progress and 93 in closing performance gaps. It scored 94 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Westlake High School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 94 in student achievement, 86 in school progress, 96 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Vandegrift High School’s five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Westlake High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Vandegrift High School. They make up for 56.61% of student population, followed by Hispanics (17.26%), Asians (15.41%), Two or More Races (6.08%), African Americans (4.40%) and Native Americans (0.08%).

At Westlake High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 61.03% of student population, followed by Hispanics (16.49%), Asians (15.12%), Two or More Races (6.42%), African Americans (0.84%) and Native Americans (0.11%).

Based on household incomes, Vandegrift High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 8.05% compared to 2.28% at Westlake High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Vandegrift High School has a slightly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 2.71% of its student population compared to 1.75% at Westlake High School.

Vandegrift High School’s bilingual students comprise 2.67%, gifted and talented students, 34.47%, while 8.50% are in the special education program. Westlake High School bilingual students comprise 1.68%, gifted and talented students, 14.52%, and 11.01% are in the special education program.

Vandegrift High School's 150 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 14.6 years.
