Vista Ridge High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 93 in student achievement, 81 in school progress and 93 in closing performance gaps. It scored 93 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Vandegrift High School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 94 in student achievement, 84 in school progress, 93 in closing performance gaps and 94 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Vista Ridge High School’s only distinction designation is in Post-Secondary. Vandegrift High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and post-secondary.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Vista Ridge High School. They make up for 42.74% of student population, followed by Hispanics (26.43%), Asians (21.23%), Two or More Races (5.53%), African Americans (3.55%) and Native Americans (0.28%).

At Vandegrift High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 56.61% of student population, followed by Hispanics (17.26%), Asians (15.41%), Two or More Races (6.08%), African Americans (4.40%) and Native Americans (0.08%).

Based on household incomes, Vista Ridge High School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 10.33% compared to 8.05% at Vandegrift High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Vista Ridge High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 8.56% of its student population compared to 2.71% at Vandegrift High School.

In addition, Vista Ridge High School has 8.47% bilingual students, 24.25% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.95% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Vandegrift High School with 2.67% bilingual students, 34.47% gifted and talented students and 8.50% students in the special education program.
