Jackson Technology Center performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 85 in student achievement, 91 in school progress and 88 in closing performance gaps. It scored 90 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Austin Acad For Excell also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 93 in school progress, 93 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Jackson Technology Center’s six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Jackson Technology Center. They make up for 56.18% of student population, followed by Asians (15.99%), African Americans (12.53%), Whites or Caucasians (11.84%), Two or More Races (2.94%) and Native Americans (0.43%).

The student population at Austin Acad For Excell is also predominantly by Hispanics at 45.11%, followed by Asians (19.98%), Whites or Caucasians (19.03%), African Americans (11.99%), Two or More Races (3.68%) and Native Americans (0.11%).

Based on household incomes, Jackson Technology Center’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 71.82% compared to 51.31% at Austin Acad For Excell.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Jackson Technology Center has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 40.88% of its student population compared to 21.14% at Austin Acad For Excell.

In addition, Jackson Technology Center has 39.33% bilingual students, 19.62% are in the gifted and talented program, while 7.61% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Austin Acad For Excell with 19.03% bilingual students, 53.21% gifted and talented students and 9.57% students in the special education program.

Jackson Technology Center's 72 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.8 years with individual teaching experience averaging 12.6 years. Teachers at Austin Acad For Excell, numbering 61 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 9.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging 13.1 years.
