Elkhart Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science and Social Studies. Story Intermediate did not earn any distinction.

The student population at Story Intermediate is also predominantly by Hispanics at 44.33%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.82%), African Americans (24.48%), Two or More Races (4.18%), Asians (1.04%) and Native Americans (0.15%).
