If you live in Friendswood, you have a few options for getting rid of your green waste, hazardous waste, and recylables.

Curbside pick up: Household trash is picked up twice a week. Recycling is picked up your first trash day of the week. Green waste is also picked up weekly.

Recyclable Items: Newspapers, Magazines, flattened cardboard without any tape, clear glass bottles and jars, clear, green and opaque plastic milk, juice, water and soda bottles, aluminum beverage cans and steel cans. Please remove the lids and neck rings from bottles. IESI can be reached at (281) 331-0810 if you have questions about what can be recycled. Call the City of Friendswood Utility Billing Department at (281) 996-3232 to get a bin.

Green Waste: Green waste such as grass clippings, leaves, etc. is picked up once a week. It must be placed in CLEAR trash bags. Tree limbs must be tied and bundled, and cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.

Green Waste Dumping: Friendswood residents can drop off up to 6 yards of green waste at the IESI Alvin Hauling site, 827 Highway 6, Alvin, TX. You must bring proof of residency. www.iesi.com

Hazardous Waste: Friendswood residents can drop off tires, paint, batteries, oil, computers, monitors, and any other household hazardous waste at the Pearland Recycle Center at no charge. You must bring proof of residency. Friendswood residents need a voucher to drop off electronics. 5800 Magnolia, Pearland, TX 77584. Call (281) 489-2795 for details. Fall Haul-A-Day and Spring Sparkle: Keep Friendswood Beautiful sponsors two annual events for residents to drop off old appliances and unwanted furniture, usually on Saturdays in October and April at Stevenson Park. Hazardous items are not accepted, but this is a great time to get rid of big items. They also collect old aquariums, kennels and other pet items that could be used in the animal shelter.
