Sugar Creek, 1st Master Planned Community in Sugar Land

Sugar Creek was the first master planned community in the Sugar Land area.  Started in 1969 and covering 1200 acres, the developers strived to create an upscale resort setting among the mature trees, lakes and bayous.  Located just off Highway 59 at the Sugar Creek Blvd exit, Sugar Creek has easy access to the City of Sugar Land and other Houston work centers.

The Sugar Creek Country Club, located in the neighborhood, is a private golf course and was built next to the River Bend Country Club.  Both offer memberships and full facilities at their club houses including golf, pools, tennis and dining.  Other amenities in Sugar Creek for homeowners include parks, pools and a manned entry.  All homes were mandated to have security systems when built and can be monitored by on-site personal at no cost.

Most of the approximate 1600 custom homes were completed between 1971 and 1980, but newer homes have been built as late as 1998.  Many back to the golf course while others are along waterways or on cul-de-sacs.  Many of the homes currently sell from $150,000 to $600,000.

2008 Forbes.com named Sugar Creek one of the “Top US Suburbs to Live Well”.  It is easy to see why with the upscale features, wonderful location, great Ft. Bend Schools and more, older sometimes is better.  While other newer master planned communities are being built, those that are looking for a new home should remember to check out the established community of Sugar Creek.
