My husband and I are thinking about buying a property in the US, while we are living abroad in the UK. We need to know what the best way to go about this type of transaction is. Do we need a mortgage loan, or a bank loan? What is the cheapest or easiest way to do it? Any info would be great!

Greetings Jodi and Barry, It really depends on what your finances are like and what you are intending to do with the home (primary residence, vacation home, investment property, etc.). I know some banks are looser than others in terms of financing real estate. Your best method is to seek out a bank that understands what you are trying to do and get preapproved so that a realtor can show homes to you via the internet or when you come to the states. Alternatively, and perhaps easier, I can arrange a list of banks to contact you and you can do the screening so that you pick the best way to finance your home.
