Depends on the residence

Hi Maintenance fee is typically annual for SFH and monthly for condo. Be sure to check with the HOA in charged before making an offer.

HAR needs to label this as monthly or annual or whatever applies. It is pretty meaningless if you have to guess whether it is annual or monthly.

Over 55 communities typically have both a annual fee and a monthlly fee.

Hi Fabry,

Maintenance / HOA fees are property and community specific. Many town homes and condos assess a monthly fee (while some are $200 / month, I've come across some that are in excess of $500 / month). Most single family homes, in neighborhoods with an HOA have their HOA dues assessed annually (paid up front at the beginning of each year). If you are purchasing a property, you'll need to factor maintenance fees into your monthly note and if renting, your LL should have factored these into the monthly rent. Note that not all neighborhoods and not all town homes and condos have an active HOA with dues. If there are monthly or annual dues, make sure you know what those dues cover (especially as they pertain to town homes and condos as these can include lawn care, maintenance of the exterior / roof, etc).

Let me know if you have any additional questions!!

Typically monthly, but not always. Your Realtor will be able to tell you in advance so you can budget for this. Also learn what they fees (monthly or yearly) cover and if your OK with this. Some might cover items like lawn care and exterior maintenance on the home in addition to community amenities like entrance gates, club house, pool, parks, planned activities and more. Generally monthly for active adult communities. The fees typically cover activity related cost, not just grounds and upkeep.

It depends on what kind of housing you are looking at. If you are looking at a townhouse or condo those fees are generally monthly. If you are looking at a single family home it is usually annually. The reason for the big difference in monthly fees or annual fees is because of the amount of support the association is providing. With a townhouse or condo they are generally keeping up all of the grounds, building maintenance, roof coverage, if they have pool, etc. That requires more work and workers so that translates to a fee that is paid monthly and is more over all. The fee is a single family home neighborhood is lower because the association is only providing support for shared services like parks, trails, a pool if they have one. Less work translates to a lower fee.
