I heard about Rentberry rental service and its efforts to make the real estate industry more transparent. Landlords and tenants can negotiate about price for property. Thus there is won’t be blind bidding anymore. What are your thoughts?
Deanna, Great thoughts and question! Of course I have a slight bias here, but I can see a few good things that could help make the rental portion of our industry more efficient through services like Rentberry. First, I believe that the most effective/efficient way for finding a home is the use of a local expert REALTOR. The problem with sites like this is the unknown. What I mean when I say that is though there are "transparent negotiations" how is the consumer supposed to know what fair market value is? Texas is a non-disclosure state, which means that actual secured/sold price is private information, so only REALTORS can see what actual fair value is. All the consumer sees is what owners are asking for. What I do like is the potential for a more streamlined application-credit/background check process, but I have found that problem to have been solved already by Transunion-SmartMove.com. Also, esign is already readily available through multiple outlets. The only thing this site attempts to do, in my eyes, is put it all together in one place, but there is still the MAJOR issue of "transparency" being possibly not so transparent.
