Born on the Gulf Coast, in Freeport, Texas, where Cheryl Lewellen-Price inherited her enduring love for the beach and salt air, and licensed as a Realtor in 1976, some might say that it was inevitable that Cheryl would build a sterling career selling Galveston real estate. The only surprise would be that it took 24 years to happen.
Prior to that, she was a Vice President of a professional recruiting and placement agency, with offices in Houston, Dallas and Atlanta, where she established and managed their temporary placement agency. Then, in 1984, she did turn to real estate, but it was working in Houston for a full-service home finding brokerage and leader in the temporary housing industry, specializing in corporate relocation and lodging. While there, she served in a variety of roles including corporate sales representative and operations manager. It wasn’t until 2000 that she moved back to the coast, at first running that company’s Galveston corporate relocation and apartment locater operations.
But, the pull of the ocean led her to an opportunity in vacation and resort real estate sales that, ultimately, became the enduring career she was meant for. Since then, she has primarily focused on the marketing and on-site sales of residential lots, development projects, and condominiums, serving West End neighborhoods that include Pirates Beach, Laffite’s Cove, The Harbor, Pirate’s Cove, Indian Beach, the Estate of Sandhill Shores, and Enclave. She was the Sales Director for Emerald by the Sea and Palisade Palms, and also worked with an auction company that was involved with sales at Palisade Palms and Diamond Beach.
In 2006, she earned her Broker’s license and has been very active in industry affairs, serving on the Board of the Galveston Association of Realtors from 2006 to 2009, where she was the Secretary/Treasurer in 2009; and, in 2005 she was a winner of the Stewart Title Spotlight Award.
Always driven to deliver concierge customer service, Cheryl strives to understand the needs of her clients and educate them about the market, but most of all she endeavors to take the worry and confusion out of the home buying process.
“It is all about the people,” she says, “and helping them find their special place, where family and friends come together and create memories. I knew I wanted to be a part of that process. My entire background has centered on customer service and providing information that is tailored to clients’ personal needs and desires. I knew as soon as I started that this would be a perfect fit.”
Married to Mike Price, Cheryl has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sam Houston State, has served on the Board for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and is a supporter of the Galveston Animal Shelter.

I have fond childhood memories of Galveston and appreciate the advantage that growing up on the island has given me in my career as a local real estate professional. My family moved to Galveston when I was 5 years old from New Orleans, La. I attended St Mary’s Elementary, O’Connell Junior High and O’Connell High School. Our family home was one block from the seawall and I spent most of my summers on the beach surfing and fishing.
After high school, I attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. After graduation, I was drawn back to the coast and I joined a Houston-based geophysical exploration company embarking on a 25-year career in the international oilfield services industry. Over the years, my job responsibilities required travel to all parts of the world and included longer residencies in Anchorage, Alaska, London and Rio de Janeiro.
Upon leaving the oilfield services industry in 2003 and returning to the United States from London, my wife and I settled in Jamaica Beach. We bought a waterfront home and have been remodeling it ever since! We could have settled anywhere, but the Galveston sand and salt air beckoned and returning home seemed the right thing to do. We don%u219t regret it one bit, and moving to the "West End" is proving to be a very positive quality-of-life decision. When not working, I can be found fishing in West Galveston Bay, working in our garden, or walking our Airedale Terrier, Olive Oyl.
Having the advantage of growing up here means I have an in-depth familiarity with all neighborhoods and all aspects of living on Galveston Island. My experiences with professional IT Systems, business software, health & safety management issues and multi-cultural environments compliment my professional real estate skills. Most importantly, being professionally trained in a service-driven environment compels me to offer the highest quality of customer service. As the world of real estate transactions evolve, it is clear that only technology and first-class service will differentiate real estate practitioners.
Since being licensed by the Texas Real Estate Commission as a Real Estate Salesperson, I have obtained the following accreditations from the National Association of Realtors: ePro – Internet Marketing, GRI – Graduate Realtor Institute, ABR – Accredited Buyers Representative, SFR – Short Sales and Foreclosures. I am an active member of the Houston Association of Realtors and the Galveston Association of Realtors.
