Valley Mills High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 90 in student achievement, 86 in school progress and 80 in closing performance gaps. It scored 87 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Mcgregor High School also earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 85 in student achievement, 85 in school progress, 92 in closing performance gaps and 87 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Valley Mills High School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics and post-secondary. Mcgregor High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Valley Mills High School. They make up for 62.62% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.13%), Two or More Races (4.37%), African Americans (3.40%) and Asians (0.49%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.

The student population at Mcgregor High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 52.98%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (39.68%), African Americans (5.05%), Two or More Races (1.38%), Native Americans (0.69%) and Asians (0.23%).

Based on household incomes, the Valley Mills High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 44.66% compared to 52.29% at Mcgregor High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Valley Mills High School has 11 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 5.34% of student population. Mcgregor High School has significantly more ELLs at 33 or about 7.57% of student population.

In addition, Valley Mills High School has 5.83% bilingual students, 4.37% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.50% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Mcgregor High School with 6.42% bilingual students, 4.59% gifted and talented students and 11.24% students in the special education program.
