As your children go through high school, choosing the right school is equally important as deciding on a perfect home. High school is when students are given the tools to figure out the paths they want to pursue as adults. There are more subjects and extra-curricular activities that students can choose from. When we compared Transition Ctr, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Trimble Technical High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Transition Ctr’s regular student population is 88 with a student-teacher ratio of 9.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Trimble Technical High School is 1,696 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.2 students/teacher ratio.
Trimble Technical High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 81 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 75 in closing performance gaps. It scored 81 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, the performance indicators not applicable for Transition Ctr.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Trimble Technical High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Social Studies and 25% closing performance gaps. Transition Ctr has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Transition Ctr. They make up for 63.64% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.45%), African Americans (14.77%) and Two or More Races (1.14%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
At Trimble Technical High School, Hispanics make up 81.90% of student population, followed by African Americans (14.74%), Whites or Caucasians (1.89%), Asians (0.94%), Two or More Races (0.41%) and Native Americans (0.12%).
Based on household incomes, the Transition Ctr’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 90.91% compared to 92.22% at Trimble Technical High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Transition Ctr has 2 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.27% of student population. Trimble Technical High School has significantly more ELLs at 608 or about 35.85% of student population.
Transition Ctr has no gifted and talented student, while 100.00% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 2.27% students. Trimble Technical High School 5.01% are in the special education program, 23.64% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 34.67% students.
Transition Ctr's nine teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 13.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 16.7 years. Trimble Technical High School's 111 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 10.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 12.8 years.
Of its teaching staff, Transition Ctr no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has two teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, six teachers have worked for 11-20 years, one teacher only has worked for 6-10 years, no teacher serving the school for 1-5 years, and school has no beginning teacher. Trimble Technical High School has six teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 16 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 36 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 28 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 20 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including six beginning teachers.
In both schools, male teachers outnumber the female teachers. Transition Ctr employs three male teachers and six female teachers. Of its teaching staff, nine special education teachers are being assisted by 21 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs one staff members in the school administration department.
On the other hand, Trimble Technical High School employs 54 male teachers and 57 female teachers. Of its teaching staff, three teachers are aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs two staff members in the school administration department and 19 more working as school support staff.
