Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Distinction Designations for The Wildcat Way School and Thornwood Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at The Wildcat Way School. They make up for 33.22% of student population, followed by Hispanics (30.23%), Asians (18.60%), African Americans (11.30%), Two or More Races (6.31%) and Native Americans (0.33%).
The student population at Thornwood Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 45.76%, followed by African Americans (33.16%), Whites or Caucasians (11.57%), Two or More Races (5.14%), Asians (4.11%) and Native Americans (0.26%).
Based on household incomes, the The Wildcat Way School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 54.49% compared to 89.20% at Thornwood Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, The Wildcat Way School has 102 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 33.89% of student population. Thornwood Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 159 or about 40.87% of student population.
The Wildcat Way School has no gifted and talented student, while 6.98% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 33.22% students. Thornwood Elementary School 10.80% are in the special education program, 4.37% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 40.87% students.
