Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Slack Elementary School, which is a part of LUFKIN ISD, with Anderson Elementary School, which is a part of LUFKIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Anderson Elementary School's five out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Slack Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Slack Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 67.79% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (18.29%), African Americans (10.93%), Two or More Races (2.58%) and Asians (0.40%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Anderson Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 39.66%, followed by African Americans (38.36%), Whites or Caucasians (16.81%), Two or More Races (3.88%) and Asians (1.29%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Slack Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 85.29% compared to 92.67% at Anderson Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Slack Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 55.67% of its student population compared to 15.52% at Anderson Elementary School.
Slack Elementary School has no gifted and talented student, while 7.16% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 78.93% students. Anderson Elementary School has no gifted and talented student, while 21.12% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 15.09% students.
