It is in this area where the two schools differ. Roderick R Paige Elementary School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Science and with 25% student progress. West University Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Roderick R Paige Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 67.59% of student population, followed by African Americans (31.39%), Whites or Caucasians (0.51%) and Two or More Races (0.51%). Based on household incomes, Roderick R Paige Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 98.99% compared to 6.58% at West University Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Roderick R Paige Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 33.92% of its student population compared to 4.00% at West University Elementary School.
Additionally, Roderick R Paige Elementary School has 32.41% bilingual students, 0.76% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.14% are in the special education program. West University Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 3.91% of student population while 8.10% are in the special education program. West University Elementary School bested Roderick R Paige Elementary School in one area, with nearly 53.20% of its student population in the gifted and talented program.
