Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Robertson Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, with Norris Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Robertson Elementary School has a regular student population of 678 with a 15.6 students/teacher ratio while Norris Elementary School has 702 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.5 students/teacher ratio.
Robertson Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 90 in student achievement, 89 in school progress and 85 in closing performance gaps. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Robertson Elementary School and Norris Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Robertson Elementary School. They make up for 36.87% of student population, followed by Asians (32.01%), African Americans (12.68%), Hispanics (10.32%), Two or More Races (7.52%) and Native Americans (0.59%).
At Norris Elementary School, Asians make up 76.21% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (10.40%), African Americans (3.56%), Two or More Races (3.42%), Native Americans (3.28%) and Hispanics (3.13%).
Based on household incomes, Robertson Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 10.77% compared to 1.57% at Norris Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Robertson Elementary School has 69 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 10.18% of student population. Norris Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 112 or about 15.95% of student population.
In addition, Robertson Elementary School has 9.73% bilingual students, 4.42% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.77% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Norris Elementary School with 15.53% bilingual students, 8.69% gifted and talented students and 11.40% students in the special education program.
