When we compared Ridglea Hills Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Washington Heights Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Ridglea Hills Elementary School has a regular student population of 632 with a 14.1 students/teacher ratio while Washington Heights Elementary School has 290 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.5 students/teacher ratio.
Ridglea Hills Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 76 in student achievement, 86 in school progress and 79 in closing performance gaps. It scored 84 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Washington Heights Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 55 in student achievement, 72 in school progress, 71 in closing performance gaps and 72 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Ridglea Hills Elementary School and Washington Heights Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Ridglea Hills Elementary School. They make up for 41.77% of student population, followed by Hispanics (27.06%), African Americans (22.15%), Two or More Races (6.33%), Asians (2.22%) and Native Americans (0.32%).
At Washington Heights Elementary School, Hispanics make up 96.21% of student population, followed by African Americans (3.10%) and Whites or Caucasians (0.69%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Ridglea Hills Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 54.43% compared to 94.48% at Washington Heights Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Ridglea Hills Elementary School has 34 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 5.38% of student population. Washington Heights Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 167 or about 57.59% of student population.
Ridglea Hills Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 5.38%, gifted and talented students, 9.34%, while 12.03% are in the special education program. Washington Heights Elementary School bilingual students comprise 55.52%, gifted and talented students, 5.17%, and 20.34% are in the special education program.
