Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Commonwealth Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Ridgemont Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Ridgemont Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 72.57% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.31%), Whites or Caucasians (2.43%), Asians (0.35%) and Two or More Races (0.35%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Commonwealth Elementary School, Asians make up 69.81% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (13.17%), Hispanics (6.42%), African Americans (5.46%), Two or More Races (4.50%) and Native Americans (0.64%).
Based on household incomes, Ridgemont Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 93.06% compared to 10.60% at Commonwealth Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Ridgemont Elementary School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 57.99% of its student population compared to 17.13% at Commonwealth Elementary School.
In addition, Ridgemont Elementary School has 57.64% bilingual students, 1.74% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.81% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Commonwealth Elementary School with 16.81% bilingual students, 24.41% gifted and talented students and 6.42% students in the special education program.
