Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Duff Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and 25% closing performance gaps. Rankin Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Rankin Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 85.50% of student population, followed by African Americans (7.99%), Whites or Caucasians (3.90%), Two or More Races (1.49%), Native Americans (0.37%) and Asians (0.19%).
At Duff Elementary School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 55.65% of student population, followed by Hispanics (28.16%), African Americans (8.94%), Two or More Races (3.54%), Asians (3.37%) and Native Americans (0.34%).
Based on household incomes, Rankin Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 95.91% compared to 39.46% at Duff Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Rankin Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 65.80% of its student population compared to 7.25% at Duff Elementary School.
In addition, Rankin Elementary School has 65.80% bilingual students, 5.58% are in the gifted and talented program, while 7.99% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Duff Elementary School with 7.08% bilingual students, 10.96% gifted and talented students and 10.46% students in the special education program.
