When we compared Port Houston Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Condit Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Port Houston Elementary School has a regular student population of 267 with a 14.7 students/teacher ratio while Condit Elementary School has 728 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.8 students/teacher ratio.
Port Houston Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 67 in student achievement, 92 in school progress and 74 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Condit Elementary School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Port Houston Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Port Houston Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 95.13% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.62%), African Americans (1.87%) and Native Americans (0.37%). There is no Asians and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
The student population at Condit Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 33.65%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (33.10%), Asians (19.37%), African Americans (7.97%) and Two or More Races (5.63%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Port Houston Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 99.25% compared to 36.54% at Condit Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Port Houston Elementary School has 189 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 70.79% of student population. Condit Elementary School has more ELLs at 193 or about 26.51% of student population.
In addition, Port Houston Elementary School has 70.79% bilingual students, 10.11% are in the gifted and talented program, while 7.87% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Condit Elementary School with 33.93% bilingual students, 28.43% gifted and talented students and 10.99% students in the special education program.
